108 Rudraksha Mala with Long Pink Tassel

Rudraksha (Scientific name: Elaeocarpus ganitrus) is a seed from large evergreen tree usually found in Himalayan region and in few parts of Indonesia. Rudraksha is also called as holy tree and it is beloved tree of Lord Shiva. As per Hindu mythology literatures Shiva Puran, Lord Shiva did Tapasya ( Mediation) to destroy demon Tripurasara. From the stress of this Tapsya, tears came out from his eyes and and they turned into rudrakshas.

For thousands of years, malas made from rudraksha are used for japa ( recital of mantras) and as a medicine in Ayurveda and Sidha. In these medicine systems, rudraksha is used in the treatment of hypertension, anxiety, epilepsy, migraine, depression, palpitation, nerve pain, asthma, arthritis and liver disease. As per ayurvedic medicinal system, wearing of Rudraksha can have a positive effect on heart and nerves.

It is commonly belived that wearer of rudraksha gains better peace of mind through the practice of dhyana ( meditation ).
